Wednesday, November 4th Activity Planning Meeting. If not for our wonderful leaders, there would be nothing on the calendar. Come out to meet some of our leaders, and maybe become one yourself, as we meet to plan our activities calendar. Sunday, November 8th - Enjoy Theodore Roosevelt Island in the fall. Easy morning stroll around Theodore Roosevelt Island including woodland and boardwalk wetland trails. This trip will go in the event of light rain but not thunder and lightning. Bring water and lunch. Binoculars if you wish. Cost: $0M/$5NM. Meet at 10:00 am at the bridge to Theodore Roosevelt Island, S end of the parking lot off George Washington Memorial Parkway N lanes. It's an easy 10 minute walk from the Rosslyn metro. Metro riders who wish to walk over together must be in front of the metro on N. Moore St. at street level by 9:45 am. Allow for transit delays. Dogs on leash are welcome. RSVPs appreciated. Wednesday, November 11th - Easy Hike at Lake Needwood with Optional Lunch After at a Nearby Restaurant. Meet at 10:30 AM at the Lake Needwood Boat House parking lot. - Directions: Take I-495 to I-270 North. EXIT at Shady Grove Road. Stay to the RIGHT on Redland Road. In 1.2 miles, cross 355 Rockville Pike. Continue for approx. 1 mile and turn RIGHT on Needwood Rd. at the light. Pass golf course and lake. Turn RIGHT at Lake Needwood Park (small brown sign on your right). Follow road to the Boat House parking lot.
Sunday, November 15th Moderate Hike at Sky Meadows Park. 7 mile moderate circuit hike in Sky Meadows State Park. Nice views for a substantial part of this hike and you'll get home in time for evening activities. Meet at Vienna Metro, north side, 9:30 AM. Bring lunch and water. Cost: $8M/$13NM. Sunday, November 22nd Mosaic Members Only Annual Meeting followed by Lunch and Museum Visit Please join the Mosaic Board and Elections Commissioner for the Mosaic Members Only Annual Meeting. This is an important meeting. We need you to ratify the new Mosaic Bylaws/Rules and we have the annual nominations process for next year's Mosaic Board. Please meet us at the Gallery Place Metro (9th and G exit) at 1:00 pm. From there, it will be a short walk to the meeting location (i.e., a room at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St. N.W., Washington, DC). Saturday, December 12th Mosaic Members Only Annual Chanukah Party Join Mosaic Outdoor Mountain Club for our biggest party of the year! Last year more than 70 people attended! Latkes, applesauce, sour cream, soft drinks, and paper goods will be provided. There will be party games and Israeli dancing. If you are a Mosaic member, you should have received an Evite invitation to the party. If not, please let us know via email ASAP. Cost: $7.50 per person + 2010 membership fee. Mail checks by December 5th. Payment in advance is required.
Non-members must join Mosaic in order to attend the Chanukah Party. To join Mosaic and attend the party, go to the following internet address: http://maryland.mosaicoutdoor.org/Membership_Application.pdf. Print out the Membership Application and fill it out. Then, mail the Membership Application plus a check for $7.50 per person for the party + 2010 membership fee ($15 for individual membership or $21 for family membership). Make checks payable to: MOMC-MD. The mailing address is: MOMC-MD, P.O. Box 2241, Kensington, MD 20891-2241. Mail checks by December 5th.
